Though I will post this for Friday, Dec 9, I’m actually writing this on Saturday morning from the 5th floor of the AU library, where I am poaching wifi and working on two case studies for my International Business course for my masters program at Cleveland State University.
I’m supposed to be down here in Ashland for the weekend to get some vacation time with Charlie, but when my Thanksgiving weekend plans to work on these papers went horribly awry, and I was too lazy last weekend to do it, this was the default (and last possible) weekend to work on these projects. The state of Ohio thinks I’m smart enough to pay taxes and drive a car, but I clearly need adult supervision on being the boss of me.
I can say with verity that between the four hours I spent last night, and the 4-6 hours I will spend in here today, that will be the most time I’ve spent in this library. Fair enough, as an undergrad here, I was in the Fine Arts program, so I would have been really hard to run a printmaking edition from the library. I’m pretty sure, though, that I could have spent more time here for my other “core” classes and for the business classes I took when I finally switched majors.
Call me bourgeois, but the older I get, the less I enjoy having “multipurpose” rooms: I want specific spaces for specific activities. The number 1 reason why I’m working on these papers here today is because there is next to no distracting stimuli for me to finish these papers. It’s also very quiet, and feels like a sacred studying space. As I round the final bend of my program at CSU, I think I’m definitely going to make it a point to sit in the library and force myself to get work done.
Onwards, to the Friday5!
- What’s your favorite ice cream topping?
Hot fudge and salted peanuts.
- What’s your favorite pizza topping?
When I was in high school, before I started dating my high school boyfriend, I would go out every Friday with my friend, Jones, to the Pizza House on Lee and Mayfield. There, they had the best veggie pizza I ever had, mostly because all of the vegetables were fresh-cut and in huge chunks. If I remember correctly, these were the toppings you’d get on a veggie pizza: mushroom, green pepper, onion, zucchini, tomato, black olives, broccoli, topped with feta cheese.
- What’s your favorite thing to sprinkle cocoa powder on?
Hot chocolate? Not sure, it’s not a condiment I use often or at all.
- What’s your favorite thing to put whipped cream on?
Pumpkin pie, mmmm.
- What do you like to put upon a cracker?
Here’s the deal: as far as I’m concerned, a cracker, chip, bagel chip, pita, what-have-you is only a vehicle for the dip that I’m piling onto it. So, that said, I love dip: cheese dip, spinach and artichoke dip, French Onion Dip, hummus, baba ghanoj, buffalo chicken dip. Bring me your finest dips!
