Well, we tried to stave off as long as possible, but Cleveland got its first snow last night, and a few smatterings again during the day here on the east side. In true Snow Belt fashion, all of the snow was still clinging to the grass when I got home, unlike at work, where most of it had melted.
I’m surprised that it didn’t cause any major traffic upset: I’m not sure how we managed it, but it’s like we here in Cleveland totally forget how to drive in snow every year, even though we seemingly get it for 9 months a year. I’m hoping this is a good sign for the months to come.
Onwards, to the Friday5!
- What do you usually take to the beach?
Usually a huge bag with a towel, loads of sunscreen (seriously, I glow in the dark), a book (or two), a drink (or two), a coverup, maybe my iPod, and flip flops. - What do you find essential for a trip to the mall?
Paxil. - What’s something you take to the ballgame?
Probably a book. I can’t stand watching live sporting events. - What do you take to the movies?
I’ll admit it: on occasion, I have been known to take 20 oz of Diet Coke in my large purse with me…. - This one may not have broad enough a relevance, but what do you take when you go to the symphony?
I’ve been to Severance Hall a few times, and when I have gone, I just take some cash, my phone, and a few calling cards in case I strike up a conversation with someone that may prove fruitful later.

I always sneak candy into the theater! ;)
Richmond doesn’t get much snow and even when it rains, you can count on a dozen accidents. Why can’t people just slow down?
Up here, when the snow flies, it’s like everyone forgets how to drive in it and move at a glacial pace. I get cautious driving, but there is no reason to forget how to drive in snow when you live in Cleveland.
