November 4, 2011 – Friday 5

Short entry today, I need to get it out of the way early today because Charlie and I will be headed downtown tonight to see Anthony Bourdain! I’ll have pictures and the details in tomorrow’s post!

Onwards, to the Friday5!

  1. Where did you hang out with friends when you were a teen?
The summer of my first teenage year (the summer before high school), I spent every single day with my three friends at the municipal pool every day. Later in high school, when I had my first real boyfriend, I spent a lot of time in his city, hanging out with our collecive group of friends: everywhere from the Denny’s in the area to his basement, to other collective hangouts.
  1. Where did you hang out with friends when you were in your twenties?
Well, since I’m more than halfway through my twenties, and all of my friends are all far-flung, we spend a lot of time getting together in restaurants in the cities in which they live. When K and I hang out, it’s usually out for lunch, or to  $5 movie.
  1. Where do you hang out with friends now? If you’re still in your teens or twenties, where do you imagine you’ll hang out with friends when you’re older?
I’m hoping that as we get older and more established, we’ll be spending time in each others’ houses, having dinner parties, movie nights, general hangouts.
  1. What great hanging-out memories do you have?
I think my favorites are from that summer before high school, though saturated with high school girl drama, was still a great time to be a kid and have good friends. I also treasure the brunch I spent with my dear college friends that I hadn’t seen since we graduated college. I also love all of the Yules I spent with Charlie and our friends down in Columbus: those celebrations were specifically established for us to get back together after an entire year apart.
  1. What ingredient makes hanging out better sometimes than others?
I think that everyone coming together in the right spirit makes all the difference. If people want to be there, they’ll bring that energy to the party.
