The Friday5 counts as a NaBloPoMo entry right? I put effort into it: I didn’t just phone it in…
- How far ahead of time do you begin packing for a weekend trip?
For a weekend trip, I’ll usually physically start packing the night before or the day of. I will start mentally and physically preparing my packing list (I am my father’s daughter, after all) a few days in advance. - What was your most recent purchase of a six-pack?
I bought a six-pack of Magic Hat, #9 a few months ago. And while I love #9, it was still awkward for me to buy the six-pack on my own – I’m the only one who would drink it, and I feel really awkward drinking on a school night. - What do you look for in a good everyday backpack?
I want good structure: support along the seams, zippers and straps. I finally caved and bought an L.L. Bean backpack in college, and kicked myself for not buying one sooner: those damn things are sturdy enough to take on a mountain climbing expedition. - Among people you know, who’s the worst packrat?
Thinking about this questions, I know a LOT of packrats. The Boy was a packrat for years until he quit smoking, had an excess of energy, and went on a huge purge of all of his things….
I think I’d have to say my mother, who still has the dress she wore for my christening, which she insists on keeping. I’m not even sure why: she will never fit into that dress again, it’s the peak of 1984 fashion, and she has the pictures from my christening to prove not only that it happened, but that she was there. That’s just one example I can think of. - How do you know when it’s time to pack it in each evening?
I usually have myself on a set schedule, so at about 10:00, I tuck into my jammies and bed and call The Boy for the evening. If I’m casually watching TV and I’m closing my eyes, I know it’s over, Johnny. Other than that, when I feel like there’s nothing left to do for the day, I’ll call it quits.
